What is DFARS compliance?
DFARS stands for the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement. It is a set of regulations that applies to contractors and subcontractors providing goods and services to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
A key part of DFARS is the specialty metals clause, which requires that certain metals, including stainless steel, be melted in the United States or a “qualifying country”. This ensures a secure and reliable supply chain of critical materials for U.S. defense applications.
For stainless steel to be DFARS compliant, its origin must be traceable to a U.S. or qualifying country’s melt source. Sabre Alloys provides the necessary documentation to certify the origin and quality of our metals, ensuring they are fully compliant with these regulations.
