Exotic, Hard-to-Source Metal Grades for Aerospace Applications
At Sabre Alloys, we excel at sourcing and supplying the aerospace industry with hard-to-find specialty grades of stainless steel plate and bar. With a deep mill network and years of industry expertise, we provide in-house processing and rush delivery to keep your most critical projects on schedule.

Certified to Meet Aerospace Industry Standards
Aerospace procurement teams cannot afford to compromise on supplier qualifications. Every material in a flight-critical assembly must be traceable, compliant, and sourced from a supplier with a verified quality management system. Sabre Alloys holds the certifications that matter most to aerospace and defense manufacturers.
AS9100 Certified
AS9100 is the internationally recognized Quality Management System standard for the aerospace industry. Our certification confirms that our processes meet the rigorous requirements for product safety, traceability, and continuous quality improvement specific to aerospace supply chains.
ISO 9001:2015 Certified
Our ISO certification reflects our commitment to consistent quality management across all operations, from material sourcing and processing to order fulfillment.
DFARS Compliant
Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) compliance means the majority of the stainless steel we supply meets domestic sourcing requirements for U.S. defense and government contracts. When your project requires domestically melted and manufactured material, Sabre Alloys is a source you can rely on.
Specialty Stainless Steel for Aerospace Applications
Aerospace components operate in some of the most demanding environments imaginable: extreme temperatures, mechanical stress, corrosive exposure, and the need for absolute dimensional precision. Standard grades of stainless steel are often not sufficient for these conditions. This is why aerospace engineers and procurement teams turn to specialty and exotic grades that deliver the specific mechanical and chemical properties their applications require.
Sabre Alloys can supply the grades that are difficult to source through standard distribution channels. These materials are used in components including exhaust systems, turbine blades, landing gear, structural frames, satellite components, and rocket engine assemblies, where heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and high strength-to-weight performance are non-negotiable.
In-House Processing and Rapid Delivery
The aerospace industry operates on precise timelines, and material delays can have cascading consequences on production and delivery schedules. Sabre Alloys is built to respond to time-sensitive requirements.
Our facility includes in-house processing services, such as waterjet and plasma cutting, allowing us to deliver plate and bar cut to your exact dimensions rather than requiring you to manage secondary processing. We stock large and heavy-gauge plate that are difficult to source through general distribution, and our same-day and next-day shipping capabilities mean that urgent orders can be fulfilled without extended lead times.
Aerospace Stainless Steel Grades We Supply
Sabre Alloys maintains inventory across a range of specialty stainless grades in both plate and bar form. The grades below represent our primary areas of focus for aerospace applications.
Super Duplex Stainless Steel Plate
Super duplex grades offer a two-phase microstructure that delivers superior strength and outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. These properties make them well-suited for structural aerospace components and environments with aggressive chemical exposure.
- 2507 Super Duplex Stainless Steel Plate: With higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content than 2205, 2507 provides enhanced resistance to localized corrosion and greater mechanical strength. It is a common choice for high-performance aerospace and defense applications where 2205 does not meet specifications.
- 2205 Stainless Steel Plate: One of the most widely specified duplex grades, 2205 offers roughly twice the yield strength of standard austenitic grades and excellent corrosion resistance. It is used in pressure-bearing structural components and fluid handling systems in aerospace assemblies.
Additional Austenitic Grades
- 321 Stainless Steel Plate: Stabilized with titanium, 321 is designed for sustained high-temperature service and resists sensitization. It is a common aerospace specification for jet aircraft components, exhaust manifolds, and high-temperature structural applications.
- 347 Stainless Steel Plate: Niobium-stabilized 347 offers similar high-temperature resistance to 321 and is frequently used in aircraft exhaust systems and components that require resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding.
If you require a grade not listed here, contact our team. Our mill network gives us the capability to source specialty grades that fall outside standard distribution inventory.
H Grade Stainless Steel Plate
H grades are carbon-controlled austenitic stainless steels specifically designed for elevated temperature service. The higher carbon content stabilizes the material against sensitization at extreme temperatures, making these grades a standard specification for exhaust systems, heat shields, and components near jet and rocket engines.
- 304H Stainless Steel Plate: 304H is specified for applications requiring both corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength, including firewalls and structural panels in aircraft and propulsion systems.
- 321H Stainless Steel Plate: This grade combines the titanium stabilization of standard 321 with a higher carbon content for improved creep resistance at elevated temperatures. It is commonly specified for jet engine components, exhaust systems, and other high-temperature structural applications.
Precipitation Hardening Grades
Precipitation hardening stainless steels are available in bar form and are among the most commonly specified grades for aerospace structural components due to their exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance.
- 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Bar: One of the most widely used PH grades in aerospace, 17-4 PH delivers high strength and hardness along with good corrosion resistance. It is used in landing gear components, structural fasteners, turbine blades, and other high-load applications.
- 15-5 PH Stainless Steel Bar: A variant of 17-4 PH with improved toughness and transverse properties, 15-5 PH is a common aerospace specification for frames, gears, and fittings requiring high strength in all orientations.
