Choosing Duplex 2205 Plate from Sabre
Grade 2205 is the commonly used grade of duplex stainless steel. It is comprised of increased levels of chromium, molybdenum, nickel, and nitrogen. The resulting alloy offers superior pitting, stress cracking, and crevice corrosion resistance in severe environments and extreme applications than austenitic stainless steels (such as Grades 304, 316, and 316L). Also, the yield strength of Duplex 2205 is double that of austenitic stainless steel.

Grade 2205 Stainless Steel Plate Applications
Because of its superior overall corrosion resistance, Grade 2205 duplex stainless steel plate is mostly frequently used in high-chloride and saltwater environments, oil and gas production, and chemical processing. It is commonly found in heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels, food-processing equipment, cargo tanks for ships and trucks, and evaporators. Finally, its lightweight but high-yield strength makes it ideal for outdoor load-bearing applications (for example, pedestrian footbridges).
